The worship ministry of Community Church Tampa exists to help our people worship the triune God in spirit and in truth; and to experience the sufficiency and supremacy of Christ in all things.
Worship is the term we use to cover all the acts of the heart, mind and body that express the infinite worth of God. This general term is made more specific in our worship service. We sing songs, give offerings, hear and obey God's Word, and reorient our lives through the working of the Holy Spirit and the application of the Word of God.
The New Testament indicates that the early church put a priority on worship (Acts 2:42-47). Christ tells us that our Father is seeking people to worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). We also have some teaching about the kinds of music that are appropriate for worship (Ephesians 5:19). However, no where in the New Testament are we given a pattern, format or even an example of a complete worship service. Therefore, since the Bible is the source of our faith and practice, we look to Psalm 100 and Psalm 95 for a model. Both of these Psalms indicate that when God's people come together for corporate worship, we are to first approach God as our King with loud, joyful celebration of who He is and what He has done for us. This is followed by a time of reverence as we reflect on the application of these truths for our lives and submit our will and lives to God for His purposes and glory. We seek to follow this pattern ever week as we worship the only true and living God.
We plan our worship service around five key priorities:
